Under the slogan of eliminating hunger, the College of Agriculture distributed food baskets to needy students, knowing that the number of baskets that were distributed reached 50 baskets. It is noteworthy that this initiative coincided with the World Food Day, which falls on October 16, 2021, a day announced by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) The United Nations, where this day is widely celebrated by many other organizations concerned with food security, including the World Food program.

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant to the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ali acidi Diab Al-Malki. The University of Basra carried out a community voluntary initiative, which consisted in distributing a set of food baskets that amounted to more than (220) food baskets of various types to needy families and low-income individuals whose work was suspended due to the health curfew imposed by the Crisis Cell Committee to combat the Corona virus in Basra Governorate. The assistant president of the university for administrative affairs, Prof. Dr. Ali Muhdi Diab Al-Malki, said in an interview with the news center, "The food basket" included (10) diverse and rich types of dry food that families need to meet their daily food. Al-Maliki added, "This initiative is one of the university's voluntary duties towards society in light of the current situation and the continued imposition of a health curfew. Pointing out at the same time that the university continues its voluntary initiatives to support those needy segments in order to alleviate their suffering and stand by them.
