Rehabilitation of the agricultural research station in Al-Hartha belonging to the College of Agriculture, University of Basrah, which has been neglected since 2003, in order to assess the soil for the purposes of suitability for economic and horticultural crops and other non-agricultural uses in order to exploit them agriculturally. The results of the soil study indicated that there are two types of land suitability for the cultivation of economic crops, they are medium suitability (S2) for the cultivation of orchards and economic crops, and limited suitability for the cultivation of economic crops (S3) due to the presence of some very severe determinants represented by the soil salinity factor and severe and medium determinants of soil depth and natural drainage, while The rest of the lands of the study area were suitable lands for the establishment of fish ponds and animal and poultry fields, and some of them were suitable as pastures. The study recommends the exploitation of the areas belonging to the station to grow field and horticultural crops, establish fish ponds, and make use of the human element in the area to improve the economic situation and reduce unemployment.
